Ham Radio and Idaho Storms

It all started very early Tuesday Morning just after my

Husband and I retired for the evening, we were talking

and I started hearing loud noises. Then we quickly

realised that we were having an extreme wind storm.

The power then went out, I knew this becuase I had

our bedside lamp on and it went off, and so did our

night light in our bathroom.

Then the power was still out, so I turned my Ham

Radio on and started listening we had no television

channels becuase the power was still out always I

have my Yaesu FT-60 handheld radio on the

charger at night, but not that night. becuase I had just

finished charging the radio before retiring. So as soon

as I got up the next Morning and I had also took my

Extended battery off the charge too so now I had 2

batteries but thats not all I also have a large pkg of 16

AA alkaline batteries I also have a battery holder for my

radio too and this holder holds 6 Batteries which gives

enough batterys to fill 2 times my husband has an small

handheld that takes 2 batteries and I had enough for

him to change out 2 times and on top of that I had

enough rechargeable AA’s to do my radio 3 times and

still cover my husbands small hand held 2 more times

so as you can see I am quite prepared for any

emergency I do not consider it being over prepared,

becuase in our ham radio club we have several people

with an FT-60 and they can use all those batterys so

thats my reasoning for having a quantity as large as that

I would rather have more then I need then less then I

need and my second point you never know how long an

emergency will last case in point the Ice winter storms a

new years ago in in the State of Kanas I had a friend that

lived there and several places in the state was without

power another thing to think about how do you charge

batteries in an emergency think about buying an

enexpensive charger that could be charged in your car

we have two both are made by energizer and they each

charge 4 AA batterys at a time and if you are like my

family and have 2 radios if I use both chargers at the

same time we would have enough batteries to run both

our radios at the same time Now I want to talk about

Antenna’s here is what I use I have the rubber duck that

came with my radio and I also have another Antenna its

called a roll up J pole I love the roll up J pole for several

reasons first being an antenna that gets out very well

even for long distances here is how I use it First of all

when I am at home I use the roll up J pole as my main

antenna unless I am running around the house or am

going over to my craft studio which is out back of my

house in which case I am using my rubber duck antenna

I can listen to the radio over there pretty good but if I

want to transmitt I take the radio outside since my craft

studio is in a mobile home and in my house I use my roll

up J pole heres how well it works I have it hanging in

my living room up high on a wall my husband did that

and and the other end of the antenna is connected

where the rubber duck antenna connects on the radio

and my J pole has 2 ends and is a long antenna made up

of connectors on each end that can be connected to each

other from the middle and if you disconnect from the

middle you can now take the radio to the car and

connect to the car antenna this will give you good

reception there are some blind spots here where we

live we live in the mountains but when I use the radio it

seems to work pretty good oh by the way ladies this

radio will fit in your pockets of your coat or slacks or

even in a purse and so will the roll up J pole antenna ok

as usual I got off track from the meaning of this article

so if it made more experienced hams bored but I

wanted to help out newer hams or people whom are

interested in ham radio’s and have no idea how being

a ham can help in an emergency so now onto what happ

-ened in our state of Idaho earlier in this article I

mentioned the power outage as I said I turned my radio

on and started listening to reports from police Kamiah

Ambulance the power companys and Isp-Idaho state

patrol and the Idaho county sheriff and the Lewis

county sheriffs by the way big reminder Never and I

mean Never transmitt on Emergency frequentsies

always use the Ham bands but only if you have an Ham

radio lisence those are issued by the FCC Federal

communications Commission if you live in the USA

major fines could and will happen to you if you do

transmitt on Frequencys you are not arthurised to

transmitt on

I also keep my radio on scan when I am just

listening I like many of other ham radio friends do this

for an important reason so that if an emergency does

happen we will hear about if quick enough to get our

ARES Amatuer Radio Emergency Service group up and

running this is one of the reasons I became a ham radio

operator as the day proggressed we heard of road

closures due to power lines down trees down and by

early evening we were starting to see power lines back

up and electricity power running again and some of the

ham radio repeaters coming back online but that made

some of the damage starting to show up also one being

the lack of back up power many of the repeators were

down we have lack of cellphone service and lack of

regular phone service I found at least 6 frequencys

available to hams but for some ham radio people in our

area had no ham radio service becuase they lived in

outlineing areas I was able to hear several frequencys

open but some I can not get into some of them we are

are just too far away to be heard my FT-60 has 5 watt

maxium one of the areas I can get into is in the latah

pullman countys Idaho we just found out late last night

that an trailer park in orifino Idaho about 1 and a half

hours us was almost wiped out there used to be 40

mobilehomes there and I found out that there was an

shelter set up at an local school and then this morning

we found out an ham radio friend whom worked in a

county building in orifino lost office due to damage and

we were not without some damage of our own we had

an covered patio on my craft studio which is an Mobile

home and it was tied down with at least 6 hurricane

clips but its gone and daves ham radio antenna was

damaged some of his wires were broken loose so some

of the nets he likes to check in on he cant at least for the

next couple of days until he has time to fix it and we

will have another set of storms coming through this

weekend with more high winds more snow in the

Mountains they say the snow level will come down as

far as 800 foot in some areas Love the snow dont like

the high winds in our area some winds were clocked in

our area at 67 miles an hour and some other winds in

other areas were clocked at 57 miles an hour well I

I have’nt written an blog in a long time too busy I guess, but last week I found a great recipe. I tryed it out and it turned out so well, that I felt that I had to share it with you. It took me a couple of days to make up an extra large batch, of this mix for my family. Now that I had never had any success in making homemade breads from scratch. So since I have 2 breadmachines, I thought there had to be a better way, then having to doing the time consuming task. Of adding a whole bunch of ingredients just to make one loaf of bread. Then searching the internet, I found these 2 recipes. So you will find these 2 recipes will also work great as christmas gifts too. Just add the mix to a emty clean and dry jar. Add an copy of the recipe on a recipe card, add it to the jar and voila you have an great gift for family and friends. So now that we have gotton this lets look at the recipe.

Bread Machine Mix Recipe

Gift or recipe test size:

3 1/2 Cups of Bread Flour

1/2 Cup of Wheat Flour

2 Tablespoons Dry Milk

2 teaspoons Salt

1/4 Cup Sugar

Directions: place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix throughly, This Recipe will produce 2 pint size jars of mix. This is enough to make 2 Loafs of Bread or 2 Gifts.

Large Batch Bread Machine Mix

13 Cups Bread Flour

2 Tablespoons Salt

1/2 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup instant nonfat Dry Milk

Directions: Place all the ingredients in a large Bowl or a large Tub and throughly mix this mix will make 14 Cups of Mix. For large Loafs of bread or large Bread Machines makes 4 loafs of bread add 3 1/3 Cups of Mix to an 32 ounce Jar this mix will produce 4 jars. And for small Bread Machines this mix will produce 6 (2 1/4 Cups of mix)

To Make an Small Loaf of Bread

1 to 1 1/2 teaspoon active dry Yeast

2 1/4 Cups of Bread Machine Bread Mix

1 Tablespoon Vegetable oil or Olive Oil

3/4 Cup Warm Water

Directions: Mix and Bake on the light setting on your bread machine. Following the instructions for your bread Machine. Makes 1 Loaf

To Make an Large Loaf of Bread

2 Teaspoon Active Dry Yeast

3 1/3 Cups Bread Machine Mix

1 1/2 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil or Olive Oil

1 1/4 Cups Warm Water

Directions: Mix and Bake on Light setting . According to your bread machine this makes 1 Large Loaf. Thanks I hope you will enjoy this recipe.

Its come to my Attention that some money has now been slated for Mochegan Sun casino, they just Gave them 54 Million dollars of the stimlus money. Yet the casino made over 1.5 Billion dollars last year. This has been done courtisy of Vice President Biden. More from Vice President Biden the unemployment rate has gone back to 9 to 9 and a half and. Vice President Biden says you will just have to get used to it. Its going to be the new normal he went onto say. I have said when they did the stimulus bill in the begining, that they would use it as a private piggy bank/slush fund. Which has been proven to be the case time after time. Its not a Democrat thing both partys have been playing lose and free with our money, for well over 100 years. Only now the people are finaly rising up and saying enough is enough.

Now another thing I just heard about BP and other explosions. Did you know that there have been explosions and leaks of oil. 26 of them since the 1970′s. Only 2 of them have been in USA, of course the 2 have been been major the Exxon Valdes and now the BP, just thought you would like to know. Today is day 60 of the spill into the Gulf. Last night on Sqwauk Box Europe, it came out that Russia is now all upset about the USA being upset about the oil spilling into the Gulf now. We know why, it just so happens that Russia is the biggest Exporter of BP’s oil. Another thing Tony Hayward will be replaced as CEO of BP, they are all upset in Europe. How we can take down one of their CEO’s, they have even in some British circles. Started calling President Obama an Dictator, very quitely but surely doing it. I am not sure if in my last Blog if I mentioned it or not, but there is a little know fact about the Dividends of BP stock. Tony Hayward made an aggreement with President Obama, at the Whitehouse the other day. That yes they will stop paying the dividends, but what they did not say is that they will restart paying dividends in Febuary of next year. Which is by the way just before the end of the first Quarter.

On wednesday night I found out that the coutry of Estonia will join the E.U. sometime in January, or the latest Febuary of 2011.They dont seem to very worryed about the the financial problems that the rest of the E.U. The Switserland National bank have been buying up Euro’s, they say they are doing great. But that makes me feel like they will be asking for a bailout, In the next several months, what about our banks. I think all of the banks around the world will be going through, what they did a couple of years ago. The E.U. Banks are doing their first stress test, they did not do one when we did ours they said we were crazy at the time, and will publish the results soon. They are talking about an second major ression around the world, this has me concerned. Because I have seen all of this before not that long ago, lets say 2008 and 2007. So buckle your seatbelts its going to be a bumpy ride, here we go again. Instead of fixing anything they are just spinning their wheels. From day to day and nothing has been fixed, no one in the whole world wants to see the problem, its called quite simply over spending. Europes stress test results are supposed to be out in July.

In the FTSE 100 in the UK the BP stock is trading at 361.00 euro’s, and in the USA its trading at 32.00 Dollars, they are saying the BP is or will be ripe for a hostile take over if the stock goes down to around 15 dollars a share in the USA. I think that could happen. Just like it did during the Exxon Valdes, Exxon used to be an American company. Now its held by the Swiss among other country’s. Right now BP is trading at 368.00 Euro’s the European Markets just opened about 1 hour ago. I have to wonder if the next person that America will try to get rid of as Ceo of a company will it be the Ceo of BP Tony Hayward. Just a question I am pondering?, and whom would pay for this spill. AWW American people we are the injured party and yet we pay for it too. After all we can just print more money oh yeah we are broke, and Broke people dont spend people dont spend money they dont have. you cant borrow your way out of this . So where would we get the Money to pay for it. Oh yeah lets raise gas prices, gee how do we do that. Lets start with raising another so called temporary tax earlier this year or. Governor of the State of Idaho wanted to raise the gas tax, and he was upset. Becuase our senate and house would not go along with it, he will use this as an excuse to bring it up next year. So look out they will get all of the tentents of the cap and trade thourgh one way or another. I wonder if you ever thought what wold happen if BP were to go Bankrupt. Whom will pay for the clean up, yep you got it you and I. We were paying for a lot of it anyway, but when BP does go Bankrupt you and I will be paying for 100 percent of the bill for the clean up. Did you know that you and I payed for most of the Exxon Valdes clean up, and we did such a great job that we are still cleaning that up. Of course none of the media puppets on the lame stream TV or the others in print will tell you the truth, But this blogger will always do my best to always give you the truth. P.S. About BP’s Fund of 20 Billion Dollars that is a Joke too, why Becuase they only have to put 5 Billion Dollars in the fnd this year. Which is a drop in the bucket, compared to what they will need. It will cover next to nothing of what will be needed to cover the cleanup. Much less the help the people of the Gulf get their lives, and their Businesses back up and rnning.

KFC Cole Slaw

8 Cups very Finely Chopped Cabbag[ 1 Head]

1/4 Cup Shredded Carrot [ 1 Carrot ]

2 Tablespoon Minced Onion

1/3 Cup Sugar

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1/8 teaspoon Pepper

1/4 Cup Milk

1/2 Cup Mayonnaise

1/4 Cup Buttermilk

1 1/2 Tablespoons White Vinegar

2 1/2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice

Directions:

1. Be sure that the cabbage, carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces [about the size of rice kernels].

2. Combine the sugar,salt,pepper,milk,mayonnaise,buttermilk,vinegar,and lemon juice.and beat until smooth.

3. Add the cabbage,carrots, and onions, Mix well.

4. Cover and refridgerate for for at least 2 hours before serving.

Serves 8

Tidbits: The criticalpart of this cole slaw recipe is the flavor enhancement period prior to eating. Be absolutely certain the cole slaw sits in the refridgerator for at least a couple of hours prior to serving for a great tasting slew of slaw,

KFC Fried Chicken

KFC Fried Chicken

1 Whole Chicken Cut up

6 to 12 cups Vegetable Shortening

4 Cups cold Water

2 Tablspoons Salt

1/2 Teaspoon MSG[see tidbits]

Coating:

2 Cups all purpose Flour

1 Tablspoon Popcorn Salt

1 Teaspoon MSG[see tidbits]

1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper

1/2 Teaspoon Papricka

1/2 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

1/2 Teaspoon Ground Sage

1/2 Teaspoon Ground Corriander

1/4 Teaspoon Ground Thyne

1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1. Trim excess skin and fat from the chicken pieces. Pre-Heat the shortening in a deep fryer to 350 Degrees. Use the amount of shortening reconmended by the manufacturer of your fryer.

2. Combine the water salt and 1/2 teaspoon MSG for the brine solution in a large bowl. Stir to disolve salt . Add the Chicken to the bowl and let it sit for 20 minutes.

3. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well.

4. When the chicken has soaked in the brine solution for 20 minutes, coat each piece with four mixture arrange the pieces on a cookie sheet or a platter. When all the pieces have been coated, drop one at a time in the water mixture again and into the flour. This time roll the pieces in the flour building up the flour on the chicken pieces this is what makes the chicken crispy. Arrange the chicken pieces on a platter again and let rest for 5 minutes, so that the coating sticks. Pre-Heat oven to 225 Degrees.

5. Drop the chicken in one at a time, into hot shortening. Fry 3 to 4 pieces of Chicken at a time for up to 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. be sure to turn the Chicken pieces over halfway through the cooking process so that each piece cooks evenly.

6. Remove the chicken to a rack to drain for about 5 minutes before eating, then put the chicken in a warm oven while the other peices are frying.

Tidbits: MSG is Monosodium Glutamate, that is found in Accent which is found in your spice section of the Grocery store I dont use it and be aware some people have a allergy to MSG

Recipe serves 3 to 4 people makes 8 pieces of chicken

Pet Food Recipe

4 cans of Numer 10 size Can of Tomato Sauce

4 Chickens Whole no gizzards or kidneys

Sliced Carrot’s 1Lb

1 Bunch Celery Sliced

1 Bunch Broccoli

4 Lbs Rice White or Brown your choice Brown is Healthier then White

Salt For People Not needed for pets

Directions: if you have a 18 QT Nesco Roaster put it on Low, put the Chickens in the Roaster. And Vegetables in the pot and add enough water to cover them .If your Electricity is reliable, you can put this on at night just before going to bed. And, be ready to can it the next Morning. The Next Morning Take the Chickens out of the Roaster, they are done cooking,And put into container with no lid ,I use 5 QT Icecream containers into the Freezer for Quick cool down.

You will have to Deskin the chicken,dont throw the skin away.Your Dog or cat they need fat in their Diet and you will have to Debone the Chickens Thoroughly. Thats the most time consuming part of the proccess, but it you love your pets like I do and do not want them eating food from China. Then its worth it besides you can eat this Stew your self, I have its yummy sometimes I make Homade Noodles instead of the Rice. And sometimes dont make it with the Tomato sauce. So that I can do more things with it, only add the Tomato Sauce when Making it for the Pets.

And Making Big Batches in the Freezer for my Cat and my Dog, When introducing a new food to a pet you need to do it slowly. Becuase you could have big problems, so give them just a little bit on top of of their normal food. So that after about a week or 2 they will get used to it. But most pets even those that are finicky will enjoy it.

I Devoloped this recipe all by accident I was making something for my Husband and myself. And my Yorkie at the time was about 5 months old, and taking forever to eat his puppy food. And his kitty Sister who was 15 at the time, was stealing his food. She liked it too, so we ended up feeding them both the same thing. We would make enough to fit into the 42 0z size Butter tubs. Which would feed the 2 of them for 5 days.

And just before summer comes I would make enough up, and store some in the freezer. That way during the really hot parts of the summer, I dont heat up my kitchen. I normaly make about 11 tubs per month, and I put everything together Tomato Sauce Chicken and Rice and veggies in freezer containers. And when I do the {chicken and veggies} I can those together. So I can make more petfood at anytime. Or you can Can the chicken and Broth alone. And make Chicken soup at anytime. I know its a lot of work. Today is the Second day in a row that congress has been shut down due to the second blizzard in 2 weeks. Washington DC was like an Ghost town, 1/4 of the snow plows were not in operation. This is stated that this storm is the worst blizzard since 1898 and 1899 season. This year Batimore has gotten 72 inches and the year is not over yet. There were roofs that caved in the roof of the Smithsononian Storage facility caved in. Dulles Airport have gotten 72 inches of snow from the last 2 storms and they will have another storm in the next week.

I have news on the 10 Idaho people from the central Valley Southern Baptist Church, from Merridian Idaho. They went to court today and the judge says they could be released as soon as thursday afternoon. The Haitian Government are even saying that the charges could be dropped thats according to Fox News Channel. CNN on the other hand is admitting that they could be released on thursday, but they reported on Anderson Cooper Tonight, that he thinks the Haitian Government may have been pressured by the United States Government. to release them and they could be required to come back to Haiti next month for a trial.

Greece has their hand out for an bailout, yet according to the Lisbon Treaty they cant not get an bailout. Its against the rules the Lisbon Treaty is what Europe signed onto after World War 2. Sort of like a Constitution between the different States . Thursday the European Union will get together and mull over what they can or should do to help Greece . Germany has said they are willing to help With a loan only one problem, with that is if Greece agrees they will lose some sovernity. Becuase Germany can come in and dictate what they use the money for.

A couple of weeks ago in Davos Switerland when the world last got together, Greece said they were doing just fine. And were not in need of any help, amazing what 2 weeks can do to change your mind. and Today they had what was called an authorized Country wide strike, in Greece its authorized for 24 hrs after that they cannot strike legelly. Theres even talk of the IMF The International Monetary Fund getting involved. And apparently Yesterday French and German Government put together a plan, and the they have said they will not get involved if the IMF does get involved.

And they say the problem is about the public employee and social security pensions being to large, and that the benifits being considered luxury items. So why am I making such a big deal about whats happening in Greece, well its becuase it will happen here next. Over there they are saying that people that retire get to much money to live on, and too many medical benifits. They are calling all of those plans luxury. Well here is my problem its about the governments stealing the Money from the people, and claiming the money is in a plan. So you retire it will be there, and the other main problem is the Governments have been using that money for a piggy bank. And lastly its clearly a breach of contract. If a business were to do that those business owners had done that they would go to jail. But it seems Governments around the world can do anything they want, without any restrictions.

Do you remember about 1 and a half years ago when they were talking about clawbacks, on the Bonuses that the Bankers were getting. Well I said that was breach of contract and that evenually it would happen to everyone. Everyone that read my blogs back then, laughed at me it won’t happen here. Well I’m sorry to say I was right. becuase its now happening world wide, and it wont stop there. It will go all the way down to minimum wage workers. oh you say No way think about it. What about Child Tax Credit, The Medical expense credits, renter’s tax credit, all of these things are about to go away.

And another thing they are talking about here in the USA, is an VAT Tax like they have in Europe.If youdo some research you will find when they put that in Europe they promised to get rid of the income tax guess what happened they still have both the Vatt tax and the income tax they never even tried to get rid of theincome tax they made the excuse to the people that they were in so much trouble that they decided it would be perament. One more thing the President came out today and said he is working on getting the deficet under control and is pretty sure he can do it their deficet right now is 12.4 percent and he said he could get that deficet down to 3percent.

Something Else that has happened China is saber rattling again. Against America again, but there is a new wrinkle in the mix, they own More of America Bonds then ever before. So it looks like we are going to have some problems, becuase of our country has had a tenuois relationship at best with china. Over Tiawan China has been upset to say the least about our backing Tiawan for many years. We have been supporting Tiawan with Tanks and Missles. And since we started Borrowing the Stimulus money from China last year. Which I do not believe is the first time we have borrowed money. I believe we have been China’s step child for many years. But never the less since we borrowed all that money last last year. They have held that over our head since then, China’s Military came out and said that if we did not stop helping Tiawan. They would put the Bonds on the open market. And get this Mortage Backed Securitys on the open Market. And sell them where did I hear that Two places one being on Squawk Box Europe on CNBC. And the other place Shocked me it was Fox News. So what was the Mortage backed Securitys from. They said on CNBC they were fro Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac.

Breaking News Germany and The French have said they have notb come to an agreement as to a deal in fact if theydecide to help Greece they will go to Greece to look at the books to make sure they are doing what they say they are doing in other words they dont believe what Greece is saying.

This week in the Markets a whole lot happening so far and its only Tuesday. In the last couple of days it was announced that we will be shutting down space travel, as we know it today. And put that into private hands. Many things to talk about today so lets get started Nasa announced that there will be 7 to 10 Thousand jobs lost due to shut downs of various portions of that Market. Of course the only way I can figure that they can do that. Is to give another piece of America away to forien countrys. Did you know that when Russia sends an astronount into space with ours on our shuttle. They dont pay their person, we do. We just got great news Just from Fox Business News, Congress shut down till next week becuse of the Blizzard Hitting DC right now. Which is good because the congress can do now harm when they are not in session.

MTA in New York City just cut a special program for low income familys, that most people dont know about. They offer a free MTA card for low income kids, to go to school. And they stopped offering this service, so now kids have to pay a lot of money to ride the subway. Something I did not know The Rochefellar family sold the Subway, to the city of New York City in the 1960′s. And ever since its been riddled with coruption, these children in some cases have to travel 1 and a half hours to get to and from school. If you live in the city of New York, and want to speak up about this you can call the Governour Patterson’s office at this Number 518-474-8390 . In other News about the States, Portsmouth NH the federal government sent that city 2 and a half Million Dollars, to build an water treatment Plant. The city sent this money back to the Federal Government, saying that they could not afford to build the Plant.

They are planning on going through the back door to put through a Climate Change Agency, in the Commerce Department. They say they will not be voting on the Climate Destruction Act this year. And I say dont hold your breath they will one way or another in the next year. Today Mr Becker President Obama’s pick for the Labor Department. Failed by 8 votes today in the Senate some Democrats sided with the Republicans in not voting for him.

Today We learned that Congressman Murtha from PA died of complications from Gallbladder Surgery, or thats what was first thought. But as the day progressed we found out that while in surgery, Mr Murtha’s Doctor accidently nicked his intestines. And he became infected Mr Murtha a Vetern Navy guy. was first elected to the congress in 1974. And Mr Murtha lived to be 77 years young.

Last night I reading an article That a friend turned me onto and after I finished reading it. I looked at the side bar and saw something that caught my eye, an article about the company that makes the parts for Toyota cars. The name of that company is Koito. And as it turns out they also make Airline seats, and what I did not know was that there was a recall on the airline seats. That go into The larger Airline Companys, including Northwest Airlines. As I continued to read this article stated that this is not the first time, this has been happening for at least the last 10 years.

On Monday the day after the Superbowl it came out that Toyota was going to pull their TV adds off ABC Television. They stated their reason for doing so was, becuase of the stories that the ABC Nightly News was airing. Becuase they were not friendly towards Toyota.

I think I am going to finish this Blog for now, I will try to get up early tomorrow mornig ,to write some more. I have a great deal more to write, but I am not feeling well. so I will finish it tomorrow have a great week .

We are the media of the future

                  Today I want to talk about the stock market and other financial problems. That I see for the future. Lets first talk about the Market at This Minute the european Markets are tanking. and thats making the dow fall more then -207 points at 11.11 AM my time. And the at 11.00 AM the USA Markets were down by 237 points, and The Fox Business Channel are saying that our Markets are falling due. To what is happening Europe. There are problems in Spain,Portugal and in Greece.

29 of the thirty Dow componants are in the red right now. The vicks is at its lowest level since May 2008. Portugal and Greece the problem is related to Credit Defualt Swaps. The Vicks measures confinance in the market. I knew the Markets were not going to be good today. When I watched the European Markets open down by 54 points. Even before they opened  Thomas Hoenig from the Federal Reserve Central Bank, came out today and said that we in the USA. Cannot Keep the the interest rates this low for much longer. And I see the interest rates going up toward the end of March 2010. But they say they cant let them go up too much becuase that could effect the elections.

                No is talking about the 8 to 10 trillion Dollars that we are spending on programs. Like Medicare. Medi-cal and Welfare,andUnemployment.  Social Security and yes the Forestry Department is also in that group of unfunded mandates. Today the Congress just voted to raise the debt cieling again it now has been raised by another 1.8 Trillion Dollars. and the ntional debt will be able to go to an all time high of 14.8 Trillion Dollars that is all they will admitt to but thats that Fuzzy Math from the 1990′s.

               Warren Buffett’s triple A rating was lowered today due to a lot of his holdings getting lower ratings. Oh yes before I forget Last week in Davo’s Swittzerland. The IMF the International Monetary Fund spent the whole week, trying to find country’s to help Ireland. The problem there is the amount of money, they have borrowed over the last 3 years. And about 6 months ago they were warned just like we have been to quit spending. We have been recieving warnings from China and now Japan. Over the last several months, now you would think we would learn as an country. As the people of the country Have the people are trying to get out of debt.

But those in our congress, hav’nt got a clue. Or are they delibertly trying to destroy the country financialy. Oh why do I say that well lets look at the monatary situation. If you want to get a group of country’s to change from one currancy to another. You use your credit card like a cash cow, you spend yourself into a stupier. And yet never paying for what you buy, and much the less the interest. Then when you can not borrow any more on that credit card you file  for Bankruptcy.

What do this do for you it makes business not trust you. Why becuase They say why should we trust you? How do you get Business to trust you.Then you show them you are trust worthy but thats not how government does it. They get together with other countrys. And join forces change your currency, into one currency. Thats what Europe did, everyone except the UK. They kept the the Sterling and the Pound. Thats what happened in the early 90′s, after the last Huge crash in the markets in 1987. It started with 12 countrys in europe going to the Euro. And now there are 23 countrys, and soon there will be 26 countrys all using the Euro as their currency of choice. We will hit the New Debt ceiling in about 3 weeks from now. Andrew Cuomo is sueing The Bank of America he is also running for Governour of New York.

                In other economic news China is now complaining about how  much money the American people make in wages. Verses what the Chinese people make in wages. May I remind China that its their fault their people make so little money. And if they would enbrace Capitalism like we do, then their people would make more money. If their country would not steal so much money from their people, their people would be able to have a better lifestyle. But instead they are playing the blame game ,becuase they think American people dont deserve to have the lifestyle we have. If China wants a better life for their people they could do a number of things. First leave Communism behind and allow your people keep more of their money. and allow the people to earn more money. Right Now the Chinese people make 40 times less money then we do. So what is the real goal here then its all about American wages being too high and that they must come down drastically. In order to make the Chinese people look like they are equal to our people. Which is something I said sometime back about an year and a half ago.

                 The Dow closed today at 9,999.61 the Dow lost 271.69 points today with the Dow final being 10,002.20 which means the total losses for the Dow today was 268.37 which was at 4.07 pm Eastern time and before the markets opened today the Dow was down about 54 points in bfore hours trading.

Ham Radio and Idaho Storms

It all started very early Tuesday Morning just after my

Husband and I retired for the evening, we were talking

and I started hearing loud noises. Then we quickly

realised that we were having an extreme wind storm.

The power then went out, I knew this becuase I had

our bedside lamp on and it went off, and so did our

night light in our bathroom.

Then the power was still out, so I turned my Ham

Radio on and started listening we had no television

channels becuase the power was still out always I

have my Yaesu FT-60 handheld radio on the

charger at night, but not that night. becuase I had just

finished charging the radio before retiring. So as soon

as I got up the next Morning and I had also took my

Extended battery off the charge too so now I had 2

batteries but thats not all I also have a large pkg of 16

AA alkaline batteries I also have a battery holder for my

radio too and this holder holds 6 Batteries which gives

enough batterys to fill 2 times my husband has an small

handheld that takes 2 batteries and I had enough for

him to change out 2 times and on top of that I had

enough rechargeable AA’s to do my radio 3 times and

still cover my husbands small hand held 2 more times

so as you can see I am quite prepared for any

emergency I do not consider it being over prepared,

becuase in our ham radio club we have several people

with an FT-60 and they can use all those batterys so

thats my reasoning for having a quantity as large as that

I would rather have more then I need then less then I

need and my second point you never know how long an

emergency will last case in point the Ice winter storms a

new years ago in in the State of Kanas I had a friend that

lived there and several places in the state was without

power another thing to think about how do you charge

batteries in an emergency think about buying an

enexpensive charger that could be charged in your car

we have two both are made by energizer and they each

charge 4 AA batterys at a time and if you are like my

family and have 2 radios if I use both chargers at the

same time we would have enough batteries to run both

our radios at the same time Now I want to talk about

Antenna’s here is what I use I have the rubber duck that

came with my radio and I also have another Antenna its

called a roll up J pole I love the roll up J pole for several

reasons first being an antenna that gets out very well

even for long distances here is how I use it First of all

when I am at home I use the roll up J pole as my main

antenna unless I am running around the house or am

going over to my craft studio which is out back of my

house in which case I am using my rubber duck antenna

I can listen to the radio over there pretty good but if I

want to transmitt I take the radio outside since my craft

studio is in a mobile home and in my house I use my roll

up J pole heres how well it works I have it hanging in

my living room up high on a wall my husband did that

and and the other end of the antenna is connected

where the rubber duck antenna connects on the radio

and my J pole has 2 ends and is a long antenna made up

of connectors on each end that can be connected to each

other from the middle and if you disconnect from the

middle you can now take the radio to the car and

connect to the car antenna this will give you good

reception there are some blind spots here where we

live we live in the mountains but when I use the radio it

seems to work pretty good oh by the way ladies this

radio will fit in your pockets of your coat or slacks or

even in a purse and so will the roll up J pole antenna ok

as usual I got off track from the meaning of this article

so if it made more experienced hams bored but I

wanted to help out newer hams or people whom are

interested in ham radio’s and have no idea how being

a ham can help in an emergency so now onto what happ

-ened in our state of Idaho earlier in this article I

mentioned the power outage as I said I turned my radio

on and started listening to reports from police Kamiah
